WhatsApp status to explain the privacy policy

Recently, all over the NEWS, we've been forced to read the arguments that people have had amidst choosing WhatsApp, Signal, or Telegram.

In my humble opinion, this won't make any difference to the end-users, who continue to use them merely for messaging purposes.

The discussions were revolving around using the tools for payments and it won't affect the users who do not pay using those apps. I personally use BHIM for my payments as it's the safest.

You don't have to worry about using WhatsApp for communications as the conversations are encrypted end to end.

They have used status, to explain this furthermore.

  1. We are committed to your privacy
  2. WhatsApp doesn't share your contacts with Facebook
  3. WhatsApp can't see your shared location
  4. WhatsApp can't read or listen to your personal conversations as they are end to end encrypted
I can understand these to a certain extent, however, I am not sure about item 3. It's easy for applications to have access to the location? Maybe they do not see the value for it. I've never seen ads on WhatsApp. Anyways, that was a personal take.

I'll just say this, I'll continue to use WhatsApp regardless of all the discussions alongside other applications that I use as most of my friends use it and still occasionally contact me on the application.

If you have any questions regarding WhatsApp, please feel free to ask them here and I'll try to provide the answers after researching a bit over the questions. Please note, I do not work with WhatsApp or Facebook, these were my personal opinions.
